In 1970, the first Pilot School in Greece was founded at the Olympic Airways Airport in Helliniko, by Alexandos Onassis. Today, it is located at the International Athens Airport "Eleftherios Venizelos" at the Olympic Aviation's building.
In 1995, the Pilot School was certified as a Professional Pilot School providing the educational background and training for Commercial Pilot License (C.P.L.) for aircrafts and helicopters, having in its property three single engine aeroplanes (Piper PA-28-140 & CESSNA F152), one twin-engine aeroplane (SEMINOLE PA44), two Helicopters (AS355F2) and one Flight Simulator Frasca 210T.
Since then, continuous efforts have been made, in order to upgrade the aircrafts, as well as the level of education. The training sessions are already performed at the Simulator Center in Glyfada area in B737-200 Flight Simulator type. The Flight Academy has also in its property a Flight Simulator ATR42/72 at the Olympic Aviation Training Center, in Thessaloniki, in which Olympic Airlines crews are being trained, as well as crews from other airlines from Greece or other countries. Also, operates a B737-200/400 Full Flight Simulator at Chania Training Center, in Crete Island. It is certified for initial and recurrent training of Airlines Crews.
Olympic Airways-Services S.A Cargo Unit operates successfully in air transport of freight and mail, has been granted the license for Cargo and Handling.
